Hello there, one of my varied interests is TEE rolling stock and in this regard I recently purchased the Roco 64003 TEE Merkur coach set which was shown in the Roco 2009 New Release catalogue as a set consisting of one compartment and two open high capacity coaches with steep roofs (what I would call as flat-ended roofs) although the picture actually shows one open and two compartment coaches!!
The coach pack arrived recently and, to my disappointment, the set did not contain coaches with steep roofs but instead contained coaches with domed roofs. Interestingly, the instruction leaflet showed drawings of steep roofed coaches!
The coaches modelled are the Copenhagen/Hamburg section of the TEE Merkur. Most of the pictures of this train that I have seen (particularly in my copy of "La legende des TEE by Mertens & Malaspina) show steep roof coaches.......
Talking to my dealer it seems as though Roco is aware of this problem. My dealer is willing to take back the coach set if I don't want the set.
My preference would be to keep the set is the coaches are authentically numbered/lettered.....but I don't know where to look to check these details. The coaches in question are numbered/lettered:
My first question is, are the above coach numbers authentic for the domed roof coaches?
Looking at the TEE book mentioned above the Open Coach is one of a batch of coaches built by MAN in 1969-70 coded Apumz whilst the Compartment coaches are from a batch of coaches built by Wegmann in 1968 coded Avumh operating in the period 1965 to 1987.
All this has got me a bit confused. I wonder if anybody can assist me by telling me if Roco have got the coach numbering/coding correct or, if not, can point me in the direction of where I can find this information.
Thanks for the info! Very helpful. I bought the set just a week ago at eBay, saw that all cars had flat roofs and was mad at Roco for producing such a crap. At least they admit their error!
Still I'm in trouble getting the roofs replaced (because I really can't bother my local dealer with stuff I have bought at eBay and that have missing or wrong parts every two months). It seems the only way out is to sell the set again at eBay and let someone else have "fun" with it...
