Hallo Stummis,
We have been enjoying the publicity that our layout Selcuk - Ephesus has received after OnTraxs and Dortmund Intermodellbau for nearly more than a year. It is now in its final resting ground in one of the leading Industrial museums in Istanbul for the publics viewing pleasure. I would like to thank the modelers of Stummis that have supported us during this period.
Now is hammering time again.I want to share our construction with you all just as I did with Selcuk.
Our new project is called Maden , ( meaning mine in English), a small copper and chrome mining town on the east of Turkey. We saw these two pictures taken from an unknown source and suddenly was in love with the area;
What fascinated us was, unlike Selcuk, the terrain was very rugged and rough and had an interesting history such that the mines were operated and managed by German companies.
We plan to built the layout in two sections; the station area and the mine itself. It will be 11 meters long and full of surprises.The planned year to be modeled will be the 1940's.
Our research yielded very few photos;
The station plan;
However these photos were not enough for our project so we decided to travel to Maden to do a full research....and what better way to travel inside the cab of a DE 22000 diesel
The land terrain looks very harsh and with countless tunnels;
entering the new station the old dreschiebe still visible on the left;
the station;
the west exit;
looking towards the east;
....the general view of the station and surroundings;
inspecting the old water crane;
The now deserted mine entrance;
...and inside view;
the old mine cars and the tipper which still works after all these years;
the copper mine which is dated 4000 BC
to show you how the terrain looks like and our entrance to Maden ;

After taking about 500+ pictures we returned for planning stage.
If this is going to be a mining layout we needed mine loco's.
We found these brass Kits;
Kit's contains etched brass body parts, etched nickel-silver chassis, cast exhaust and radiators and finescale wheelsets
the motor;
One of our team member is constructing these while I started the structures
...to be continued
